Ok I agree with a lot of you that of course "guns don't kill people, people kill people" HOWEVER you are not realising that such easy access to guns or having access to guns at all is a major problem as when these nut jobs want to do something crazy or drastic they have the gun power to take so many people with them. Guns give them the opportunity to kill a lot of innocent people in a short space of time where as if they didnt have access to guns they couldnt do that. Everyday people aren't allowed guns in Europe and how often do you hear of mass killings from an average person (not a terrorist) Even from another weapon? You don't because only guns allow a single person to take a lot of lives in one go. No one goes into our schools or movie theatres to "shoot them up" and we don't need metal detectors in our schools even in our most violent areas, it's just unheard of.
Guns need controlling because not everyone can be trusted with one and shouldn't have access to one. You may want one to keep you safe from invasion or from your "wako" neighbour but wouldn't you rather you both can't have one, making it much less likely for you to get shot and killed than you having one also? And don't say bad guys can get a gun because no most bad guys can't, they are extremely hard to get and so are very expencive so most "bad guys" that would have one are the more serious crime ones that don't bother with everyday people. It's your petty criminals and street thugs that are the ones actually killing people or some sad teenager so if they can't get a gun they can't take you down with them.
